Dr. Cindy Ly is a scientist in the Cell Biology Research and Development team at MilliporeSigma. Her primary focus is on innovating new tools and technologies for the scientific market, to ultimately help the scientific community in their research. In 2022, Cindy obtained her Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Kansas studying host-virus interactions of herpes simplex virus (HSV-1). Her research focused on understanding how HSV-1 exploits the host cell for replication and develop a drug screening method to identify potential new drugs against HSV-1. As a first-generation graduate herself, she relates to the struggle in navigating higher education and understanding the paths to get where you want in the science field. With that she loves to volunteer her time mentoring students and providing resources that can help students succeed!
